Alex Ovechkin’s “Ovi O’s” Raise $44,008 For Childhood Cancer Foundation

Hopefully you had a chance to grab a box or two. I know I had more than my share and have a few extra pounds to prove for it. The good thing about eating all of those Ovi O’s is that a portion of the proceeds are going to the Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Captain Ovechkin signed the big check today. A total of $44,008 (of course 008) was raised for the foundation.

Ovi O’s originally made it to the shelves of Giant Food stores back on September 17, 2019, (Ovechkin’s birthday) and where available for a better part of a year.

To announce the launch of the cereal, Ovechkin made the rounds at a local school, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and a local Giant Food store.

Hopefully you had a chance to grab a box. If not, you can still buy a box on eBay for anywhere from $15-20. If you need an empty box, hit me up, I’ve got a case of them.

Great cause and I applaud Ovi and Giant and anyone else involved for their work in accomplishing this. But, I am very disappointed in the amount raised. The Lightning owner gives $50,000 to a charity every single home game. Inspiration4 just raised $200 million for St Jude’s. $44,008 wouldn’t even pay for the training of one service dog such as Bisquit. I had hoped for more.
