Washington Capitals’ defenseman Martin Fehérváry will not compete in the Olympic qualifiers tournament this weekend in Bratislava, Slovakia. He was excluded from Slovakia’s final roster due to a minor muscle injury, which is expected to require a week of recovery. The news was first reported by the Slovakian National Team’s website on Wednesday.
Capitals forward prospect Aliaksei Protas and the Belarus National team arrived in Brastislava on Monday. Protas recorded a goal and an assist and converted on a shootout attempt in the team’s two tune-up games against KHL Barys last week.
Austria, Poland, Belarus and Slovakia will compete in the tournament this weekend, with the winner of the tournament getting a ticket to the 2022 Olympics.
