The NHL offseason is (finally) beginning to show signs of winding down as players begin to get serious about their daily workouts, all in preparation for the upcoming training camps, which are set to begin in just a few weeks. Vegas oddsmakers are already at work at setting lines for the upcoming season, including moneyline odds for each team to make the 2022 playoffs next spring.
The Capitals are currently -150 to make the postseason, which is tied with the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes for third in the Metropolitan Division, behind the New York Islanders (-300) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (-265).
Colorado has the best moneyline odds to make the postseason at -4000, followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning at -2000 and the Vegas Knights at -1600. Honors for worst odds fall to the Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators, all at +1500.
The Capitals will open their 2021-22 season on Wednesday, October 13, when they host the New York Rangers.
