Denmark’s national hockey team will compete against Norway, Slovenia and South Korea at the end of the month for a ticket to the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. The qualifiers will take place from August 26-29 in Oslo, Norway.
Denmark will have to do it without Capitals’ center Lars Eller and Hurricanes’ goaltender Frederik Andersen, who have both decided to pass on the Olympic qualifier games. The report states that the door remains open for both players, should they decide to report to the team.
Eller has played for Denmark’s national team on numerous occasions, including U18, U20, World Junior Championship, World Championship and the NHL’s World Cup of Hockey.
31-year-old Frederik Andersen has played in Olympic qualifiers twice before, but has never been allowed to play in the Olympics for Denmark.
Denmark’s qualifying games will be played on the following dates:
26.08.21 15:00 – DEN vs SLO
27.08.21 17:00 – DEN vs KOR
28.08.21 Day off
