Team Sweden will hold an Olympic preparatory meeting in Stockholm next week with 27 NHL players available to the media. Capitals forwards Nicklas Backstrom and Carl Hagelin will attend the meeting. Former Capitals’ forward Andre Burakovsky will also attend.
No formal decision has been made regarding NHL players participating in the 2022 Olympics in Beijing next year, but the league has formatted the upcoming 2021-22 season schedule to include a three-week break in February to accommodate the Olympic Games.
Team Sweden has not announced any formal roster for the Olympics, however, a good starting point would be the players that will assemble in Sweden next week. The players scheduled to be in Stockholm for the media meeting include:
