Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares released a statement via Twitter after taking a knee-to-head hit from Montreal Canadiens forward Corey Perry in the Maple Leafs’ 2-1 loss in Game 1 of the first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series on Thursday.

The Maple Leafs announced earlier on Friday that Tavares is out of the hospital after being taken out on a stretcher in Thursday’s Game 1 but will be out indefinitely.
