Bruins’ Chris Wagner Details Exchange With Capitals’ Tom Wilson

Boston Bruins forward Chris Wagner sounds willing to get his face beaten in by Tom Wilson in order to get the Capitals forward off the ice.

The Bruins winger joined Zolak & Bertrand to talk about an exchange that took place between he and Tom Wilson in Game 3 on Wednesday night.

“I just told him to ‘get mad’ because that’s usually what I say to people,” Wagner said. “Every time you touch him, he turns around like he’s going to kill you, and he’s like ‘I’d love to beat your face in.’ I’m like ‘You can if you want, but it’s not going to do anything.”

When pressed for a specific translation, Wagner said the conversation went like this:

Wagner: ‘What, do you think you’re untouchable?’

Wilson: ‘You want me to beat you up?’

Wagner: ‘You can … you should just get mad.’

Wilson: ‘I’d love to beat that face in.’

Wagner: “OK, man, nice.”

Seems like Wagner backed down pretty quickly when things started to get real. Tough radio talk, though.

The Capitals look to even up the series tonight in Boston. Puck drop is set for 6:30 PM ET.

Somehow I don’t believe that’s what Wilson said.
