2 Goals in Game 2: Capitals’ Garnet Hathaway Scores First & Second Career Playoff Goals

Washington Capitals forward Garnet Hathway entered Monday’s game with no playoff goals in fourteen career games. That has changed. Hathway had himself a night during Game 2 of the First Round series against the Boston Bruins in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 29-year-old scored his first and second career postseason goals.

His first goal of the night came 16:42 into the first period in which he tied the game up at 2-2. Defenseman Dmitry Orlov and center Lars Eller assisted and both earned their first points of the postseason.

As mentioned, it marked Hathway’s first career playoff goal.

He would pot another in the final frame at the 7:04 mark, giving the Capitals a 3-2 lead. Orlov and forward Carl Hagelin had the helpers.

Orlov had two primary assists, which marked his second career multi-assist playoff game (April 21, 2018, against the Columbus Blue Jackets).

I think it’s safe to say we are all Nic Dowd.
