Laviolette Doesn’t Name Starter In Goal, T.J. Oshie Will Be Game-Time Decision For Capitals’ Game 1 vs. Bruins

Forward T.J. Oshie will be a game-time decision for the Washington Capitals’ Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night (7:15 PM ET, NBC) and took line rushes at center during the team’s morning skate with Evgeny Kuznetsov still on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list.

The team has yet to clear Oshie, though. The 34-year-old did not play the Capitals’ final two regular-season games due to a lower-body injury.

With goaltender Ilya Samsonov still in COVID-19 protocol, Vitek Vanecek appears like he will start Game 1 against the Bruins but the Capitals will not confirm that information in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Head coach Peter Laviolette told the media that he will discuss Kuznetsov and Samsonov on Sunday. He did not want to on game day.

Here is the Bruins’ lineup for Game 1.
