Tobias Geisser Selected For Next Phase Of Swiss National Team’s Preparations For 2021 IIHF World Championships

The honors keep coming for Capitals’ defensive prospect Tobias Geisser, who recently was part of the Swiss National League Champion squad, EV Zug. On Sunday May 9, The Swiss National team coach, Patrick Fischer, announced that Geisser would be one of 32 players to be part of the next phase of preparation for the 2021 IIHF World Championships in Riga, Latvia (May 21 to June 6).

Coach Patrick Fischer announced his lineup for the third week of preparation, which take place from  May 11-15. It include’s Capitals defensive prospect Tobias Geisser and five of  his teammates from EV Zug.

Along with Geisser, Fischer also selected the following teammates of his: goaltender Leonardo Genoni, fellow defenders Santeri Alatalo and Raphael Diaz and forwards Grégory Hofmann and Dario Simion.

Additional players were also added to the team, including one player from Geneve-Servette, EV Zug’s opponent in the finals, and several NHL players, including former Washington Capital Jonas Siegenthaler, whose teams did not qualify for the playoffs. 32 players in all are on the current squad.

The 2021 IIHF World Championships will take place in Riga, Latvia  from May 21 to June 6.
