The New York Rangers announced on Wednesday morning that they have fired head coach David Quinn after they missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. A replacement has yet to be named.

Assistant Coaches David Oliver, Jacques Martin, and Greg Brown have also been relieved of their coaching duties.

The Rangers fired GM Jeff Gorton and President John Davidson last week. The team finished 11 points behind the New York Islanders for the final spot in the East Division. Chris Drury is currently the interim GM and president of the club.

The Rangers lost five of their last six games in regulation in a stretch where they were shut out three times.

The team finished the season with an average of 3.14 goals-per-game (10th in the NHL), 2.77 goals-against per game (tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for 14th), a 20.7% power-play efficiency (14th), and an 82.3% penalty-killing rate (ninth).

Under Quinn, the Rangers went 96-87-25 (.525 points percentage). They were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes in the best-of-five Stanley Cup Qualifiers last season.

The Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Seattle Kraken, and Montreal Canadiens are the only other teams without a head coach for next season. Gerard Gallant, Mike Babcock, John Tortorella, Claude Julien, and Rick Tocchet highlight some of the best coaches available.

Tocchet and Tortorella parted ways with the Coyotes and Blue Jackets, respectively, since their seasons ended.
