Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie, who left the team’s 2-1 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday with a lower-body injury and did not return, will not play against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday (7 PM ET, NBC Sports Washington locally, NHL Network nationally).
The 34-year-old sustained the injury in a board battle with Flyers forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel in the final moments of the second period of Saturday’s game.

The Capitals cannot move up or down in the East Division standings and will host the Bruins in Game 1 of the first-round series on Saturday. With nothing to play for, the team opted not to play Oshie on Tuesday.
Forward Philippe Maillet was recalled from the taxi squad on Monday and appears to be Oshie’s replacement on Tuesday.
Oshie has recorded 22 goals, 43 points, and a -3 rating in 53 games this season.
