The Washington Capitals announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have recalled forward Daniel Carr from the team’s taxi squad and re-assigned goaltender Zach Fucale from AHL Hershey to the Capitals taxi squad.

The Capitals were able to make the roster move when center Evgeny Kuznetsov was added to the League’s COVID-19 absences list on Tuesday.

The re-assignment of Zach Fucale gives the Capitals four goaltenders on the roster and taxi squad, which could mean another announcement might be pending for goaltender Ilya Samsonov.

Teams must carry at least three goaltenders on the roster and taxi squad. The team could just decide to have four goaltenders on the roster and taxi squad for the time being. Updates to the league’s COVID-19 absences are released at 5:00 PM.

Samsonov has been sidelined since Monday afternoon after he and Evgeny Kuznetsov violated team rules by being late to a team function.

The Capitals wrap-up their season series with the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
