“We Are Extremely Disappointed”: New York Rangers Release Statement Condemning NHL For Not Suspending Capitals’ Tom Wilson for “Horrifying Act of Violence”

After the ice chips had settled and the Washington Capitals’ chaotic game against the New York Rangers on Monday night was over, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety fined Capitals right wing Tom Wilson $5,000 for his involvement in a brawl that erupted during the second period at Madison Square Garden. On Tuesday evening, the Rangers released a statement taking aim at DoPs Head George Parros and Wilson’s actions.

The Rangers released the following statement, which called Wilson’s actions that injured Rangers star forward Artemi Panarin, “horrifying acts of violence”, and that Player Safety’s decision not to suspend the Capitals’ rugged winger indefinitely is “shocking”.

The Rangers also stated their belief that Parros is “unfit to continue in his current role”. Wilson received 14 minutes of penalties in the contest, and drew the ire of many on social media, just a few months after being suspended seven games for a hit on Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo.

The Capitals and Rangers wrap-up their season series Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. Puck drop is set for just after 7:00 PM.

Good lord, that’s way too dramatic. Sounds like they are describing a mass shooting scene.

Come on its Hockey and Willie, it wasn’t a surprise.

    Embellishment is a penalty too

  4. Marky says:

It’s ironic but I can get behind them getting rid of Parros too. Too much inconsistency in the decision making.

Tell you what, if I was on the ice and a dude was hacking at my goalie like that, I would have done the same thing Willie did. It’s unfortunate that the rangers feel so slighted but not hard to see why. They have fallen on hard times. Bless their hearts.
