Just after 3 PM on the Trade Deadline on Monday, the Washington Capitals dealt forwards Jakub Vrana and Richard Panik along with a 2021 first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick for forward Anthony Mantha from the Detroit Red Wings. The trade was a bit of a stinger as Vrana has been with the Capitals since 2014 and was a core member of the 2018 Stanley Cup team. His former teammates and fans took to social media to wish Vrana all the best in the Motor City and share favorite moments and memories.

He was always gracious with us, loved to joke around when the mics and cameras were off. Thanks for everything, Jake. Especially 2018. Take care of him, Detroit. pic.twitter.com/v7RNRuED7B

I’ll add one of my favorite moments:
Thank you for all of the great memories, Vrana! Best of luck in Detroit!

Kempny’s post on Jakub was definitely time to get the tissues out. (I’m sure Kempny remember Jake fighting on his behalf after he was injured vs TB in 2019.) I’m sure Vitek is really sad, too.
