Heading into the Washington Capitals’ Friday night game against the New York Rangers, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin had scored in four straight games. With the Caps down 1-0 late in the third period, The Great Eight came through in a big way by scoring two quick goals to lift the home team to their seventh consecutive victory.
Down 1-0 at the 13:18 mark of the final frame, Ovechkin found a loose puck in front of Rangers goaltender Alexandar Georgiev and potted home his 13th goal of the season to tie the visiting Rangers; Evgeny Kuznetsov and Justin Schultz were credited with assists on the play.
