After their Wednesday night victory over the Boston Bruins saw some animosity develop between their respective benches, the Washington Capitals’ and Boston Bruins’ rematch on Friday night proved to be a much more physical sequel, with both teams’ tempers flaring.
The feistiness began following a hit from Capitals Right Wing Tom Wilson on Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo in the first period, a hit which resulted in Carlo leaving and not returning to the game. Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters after the game that Carlo was taken to a hospital.

Wilson was not penalized for the play, and tensions began to escalate soon thereafter. During the first intermission, Boston forward Brad Marchand called the hit “b******t”, and the sparks began flying in the second.
Six minutes and 12 seconds into the second frame, Wilson and Bruins defenseman Jarrod Tinordi dropped the gloves, a call for the Capitals’ No. 43 to answer in response to his hit in the first.

By the start of the third, the emotions from the first two periods were far from gone, and one minute and 12 seconds into the frame, Wilson dropped the mitts once again, this time with Trent Frederic, who was involved in the iciness in Wednesday night’s contest, in a tilt that proved to be a more spirited one than the first. Wilson was handed a five-minute major for fighting while Frederic was dealt a five-minute major for fighting, an Instigator penalty, and a 10-minute game misconduct.

The two clubs continued to go at one another, with longtime Bruins defenseman and current Capitals blueliner Zdeno Chara getting into the mix with his former teammates.

The Capitals and Bruins will not meet again until April 8 in Washington, however the two MassMutual East Division rivals will no doubt have scores to settle at Capital One Arena.

LMAO and if Marchand or any other Bruin hit a Caps player like that they would say it was a good hit. Maybe Marchand should think long and hard about his own actions like licking people. Getting hit is part of the game and If you look at the hit, Wilson hit in with his shoulder. You are suppose to finish your checks hard. If the Boston players and coach and announcers dont like it dont to them then dont do it to others.
