How Swede is It: Capitals’ Nicklas Backstrom Scores Team-Leading Ninth Goal of the Season

Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom continues to stay hot, scoring the team-leading ninth goal of the season Thursday night at Capital One Arena as the team hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Backstrom opened the scoring midway through the first period to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead at the 11:20 mark. Defenseman Nick Jensen assisted.

The goal marked his team-leading ninth goal of the season and 23rd point of the season. Jensen picked up his fifth assist in 16 games and third assist in the last six games.
