Capitals Trail Penguins 1-0: First Period Stats


The Penguins opened the scoring with a power play goal fro Evgeni Malkin at 6:41 of the first frame. The Capitals have now given up the first goal the game in their last three games. The Penguins led 1-0 after 20 minutes.

SHOT METRICS FROM PREVIOUS FOUR PENGUINS GAMES
While their record says the team was fairly successful in January, taking home at least a point in each of the nine games, and says that February has been much the opposite, losing the first four games of the month, key statistics for the Washington Capitals over the month of February have shown solid improvement. This is also evident in the advanced shot metrics from the previous four Penguins games.
