Nine Capitals’ Players Clear Waivers

The nine players that the Washington Capitals placed on waivers on Monday afternoon all cleared.

Forwards Shane Gersich, Michael Sgarbossa, Daniel Carr, Philippe Maillet; defensemen  Lucas Johansen, Paul LaDue, Cam Schilling; and goaltenders Pheonix Copley and goaltender Zach Fucale all cleared waivers on Tuesday afternoon. Most will join the AHL’s Hershey Bears when they are able but some could join the taxi squad.

The AHL season will not begin until February 5 at the earliest.

All NHL teams must submit their final 23-man and four-to-six player taxi squad roster by the 5 PM ET deadline on Tuesday. The 2020-21 NHL season is set to begin on Wednesday.
