Capitals Announce Roster Cuts Prior To Start Of 2020-21 Season

The Washington Capitals made roster cuts on Monday, just ahead of the deadline at 5 PM ET on Tuesday to submit their final 23-man and four-to-six skater taxi squad rosters. They will also be required to carry at least three goals all season long.

The following players have been sent to the AHL’s Hershey Bears: forwards Kody Clark, Brett Leason, Garrett Pilon, Joe Snively, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, and Riley Sutter. The AHL is targeting to start the 2020-21 season on Friday, February 5.

The Capitals loaned center Hendrix Lapierre to the QMJHL.

Monday was the final chance for teams to place players on waivers and have them clear before submitting their opening night roster. In addition to submitting their rosters, teams must be salary-cap compliant by Tuesday.

The Capitals open the 2020-21 season at the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday (7 PM ET, NBC Sports Washington).
