According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Detroit Red Wings claimed defenseman Christian Djoos on waivers from the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. In addition, the Nashville Predators placed defenseman Tyler Lewington on waivers.
The 26-year-old was traded to the Ducks in exchange for forward Daniel Sprong on February 24, 2020. He posted one goal, three points, and a +2 rating in nine games after the trade last season and appeared in two games with the Capitals in 2019-20.

In 110 career games with the Capitals, Djoos recorded four goals, 24 points, and a +23 rating, including three goals, 14 points, and a +13 rating in 63 games during the 2017-18 season. Though, his play declined after he missed 24 games while recovering from thigh surgery. Jonas Siegenthaler took his spot in the lineup after Game 3 of the first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes in 2019 and never looked back.
Djoos posted one assist and a +5 rating in 22 games during the Capitals’ run to the 2018 Stanley Cup.
The Capitals selected Djoos 195th overall in 2012.

The Capitals picked Lewington 204th overall in 2013.
