After completing his quarantine requirement and passing his physical testing, defenseman Zdeno Chara joined the Washington Capitals for the first time after signing a one-year contract with the team as an unrestricted free agent last Wednesday.

The 43-year-old skated alongside Lucas Johansen during rushes.
According to head coach Peter Laviolette, Chara will join the Capitals’ main practice group on Wednesday. We should also see where he slots in initially then.

He recorded five goals, 14 points, and a +26 rating in 68 regular-season games with the Boston Bruins last season.
Zdeno Chara made his NHL debut a little more than four years before Hendrix Lapierre was even born.

In 1,553 career regular-season games with the Bruins, New York Islanders, and Ottawa Senators, Chara has recorded 205 goals, 656 points, and a +288 rating. He won the Stanley Cup as captain of the Bruins in 2011.
