The Tribune deGeneve is reporting that Washington Capitals prospect Damien Riat has been recalled by the team. The report states that Riat will play in tonight’s game for Geneve-Servette against Biel, before flying to Washington.
Riat, a 6’0”, right-handed winger has scored 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) in 15 games for Geneve-Servette this season.
“I signed for two seasons there and I am ready to put all my energy and chances on my side to succeed. I am ready to be patient and go through the AHL if necessary. When you see the Caps’ line-up, you have to be really strong to integrate into it,” said Riat.
The Capitals signed Riat to a two-year entry level contract on March 5. Riat was preparing to report to Hershey when the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown hockey a week later. Riat’s contract will carry an average annual value of $817,500.
“It will certainly not be easy for me in Washington. But I will do everything I can to take the chance this time and make the leap onto the team. My goal is to play in the NHL as soon as possible. I work on that every day,” he said. “I want to be successful and win championships. I feel like all players. I am of course aware that this requires a lot of hard work,” Riat said back in October.
The Capitals loaned Riat to the Geneve-Servette Hockey Club of the Swiss National League on August 4 to begin the 2020-21 hockey season. It was expected that the Capitals would recall Riat to North America when the organization’s 2020-21 season training camp opens.

Is this another guy for RW on the 3rd line or straight 4th liner? They are going to have to get scoring from all 4 lines and at least 20 goals from the D to be competitive this year.
He’s a pure right winger. Could battle for a bottom six spot, but will likely go the Hershey first.
Is he compeeteing for a spot on the 3rd line or is he going to be a straight 4th liner? Going to have to have goals from all lines and at least 20 from the D to be competitive this year!
