There was a special guest at the Officers’ Hockey League (OHL) game on Thursday night in Moscow – none other than Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin. He was there as part of the festivities for the annual day that honors the employees and veterans of the security agencies of the Russian Federation. This particular OHL game was between the Red Tigers and the Capital.
Before the game started, Ovechkin wished the athletes health, success and thanked them for their work, expressing his deep respect for their work. In turn, Ovechkin was presented with a personalized OHL jersey on behalf of the Officers’ Hockey League, as well as other specially prepared gifts.
Ovechkin also dropped the ceremonial puck, posed for pictures with the participating teams and signed several pucks and pennants.
For the athletes participating in this game, Ovechkin’s appearance was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Events
like this are intended to give thanks and motivate amateur hockey players to continue playing hockey.
Olga Chupryakova, one of the organizers, said, “We are sure that such events will become traditional and at OHL matches we will see quite a few famous athletes and honored veterans of our country.”
The game itself was close early but ultimately ended up as a 4-0 win for the Capital.
One of the participants in the game posed for a selfie with Ovechkin.
