“The King” is getting ready for the 2020-21 season. On Saturday morning Henrik Lundqvist revealed the design for his new Washington Capitals goalie pads. The announcement came via Lundqvist’s Instagram page.
The new design includes the iconic “Weagle” logo and Capitol Building spanning both of the Bauer leg pads, with three stars diagonally across the bottom of each pad.
Lundqvist wrote “The new look is set and in the works..”
Lundqvist, who remains in New York City with his wife, Therese, and his two daughters, Charlise, eight years old and Julie, four years old, has been working out daily across the river in New Jersey.
On October 30, Lundqvist posted a video of himself practicing in a Capitals practice sweater (and Rangers pants) for the first time, while working out in New Jersey.
Lundqvist hasn’t stated when he will arrive in Washington to begin participating in informal skates. The Capitals began informal skates earlier this week at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
The 2020-21 season is currently slated to begin on January 1, with training camps beginning in the middle of next month.
