Washington Capitals forward prospect Axel Jonsson-Fjallby scored a pair of goals and recorded an assist in Tuesday night’s tilt with Mora IK. The tallies were the first and second goals of the season for Jonsson-Fjallby, who is on loan to Vasterviks IK of the HockeyAllsvenskan league in Sweden.
Axel’s first goal of the game and first goal of the season came at 10:31 of the opening frame, giving Vasterviks an early 1-0 lead. Using his speed, Jonsson-Fjallby beat the defender to the goal and deflected a net front pass for the tally.

Axel’s second score of the game came on the power play at 9:56 of the third period, tying the game at 2-2. Jonsson-Fjallby would let one rip from the right circle for the game-tying tally.

Johnson-Fjallby would also add an assist with 1:22 remaining in the third period, tying the game 3-3. Vasterviks would fall in the shootout, 4-3.
For the season, “AJF“ has two goals and five assists in six games played. He has found a steady home at 3LW for the month of October, and is getting significant ice time, with 20:54 of TOI in Tuesday’s tilt. [Click to enlarge]
The Capitals announced on September 14 that they had loaned left wing Jonsson-Fjallby to Vastervik IK of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan League to begin the 2020-21 season. It is expected that the Capitals will recall Jonsson-Fjallby to North America in time for the start of the Capitals’ 2020-21 training camp.
