The ink has now dried on Braden Holtby’s new contract with the Vancouver Canucks, but the expressions of gratitude and tributes to Braden have only just begun. On Saturday the Capitals released a “thank you” video dedicated to Braden for his work on and off the ice in Washington.
The video includes a retrospect of Holtby’s lifetime in hockey, starting with footage from his childhood of him playing floor hockey with his family. It also includes footage from various milestones achieved in Holtby’s hockey career. But more importantly the video includes poignant narration from Braden himself.
The positive impact that Braden has had in the Washington region, both on and off the ice, can never be overstated. His class and kindness have been a true blessing to the community.
We struggle to find words that effectively and accurately express our gratitude to Braden and his family, but we will continue to try.
Braden, you will always be a Washingtonian, a Stanley Cup champion and a big piece of the Washington Capitals community. You will always have a home in our hearts.
Thank you, and best wishes to you and your family. The city of Vancouver is so very fortunate to be your new home.
