Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has been in his home country of Russia for nearly a month since the Capitals’ first-round exit of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Earlier this month, he met with the governor of Novosibirsk, Siberia, and attended a KHL game. Ovechkin spent time on Wednesday with the Russian Children’s Ensemble “Dynamic Guys”, appeared in a musical project with the group, and worked with The Production Center “Dynamo” on a new story.

Dynamic Guys” is a professional team of children aged 5 to 17 years, who combine elements of sports and music into projects while learning about a healthy lifestyle and self-realization. The ensemble’s repertoire includes songs about childhood, sports, and the Motherland.

A member of the ensemble received an autograph from Ovechkin himself.

Dynamic Guys is a part of The Production Center “Dynamo”, a non-profit organization that honors legendary Russian athletes, coaches, sports achievements, and teams. The ensemble wished Ovechkin, a longtime friend of the group, a happy 35th birthday. Ovechkin also made an appearance in their recent project, “Hockey Girls”.

Additionally, it seems Ovechkin is working with The Production Center on a “new story about an important hockey event”, according to producer Karina Kovaleva.

We will have to wait and see what exactly that new project is. When Ovechkin was 16, he spent three seasons playing professionally for the KHL’s Dynamo Moscow. He later played for the Russian National Team and was the youngest player at only 17-years-old.

In the centre of the plate is written “Golden Double” – the name of a new film by Production Centre “Dynamo”. It is about how Dynamo has won Gagarin Cup twice, in 2012 and 2013.

Ovechkin is the first captain from Russia to win the Stanley Cup and the first Russian athlete to score 700 goals in the NHL.
