Washington Capitals forward prospect Aliaksei Protas scored his first regular season goal in the KHL against Salavat Yulaev Ufa on Monday in Minsk.

Protas continues to center the 4th line for Dinamo Minsk.

Protas’ first career KHL goal came on the power play with 13:42 remaining in the opening frame. He would fire a shot from the top of the right circle, beating the goalie far side, to give the Bison a 1-0 lead.

Protas’ girlfriend Tanya Zavadich was also on hand to capture fan reaction to Protas’ first goal.

For the game, Protas had a goal on two shots. He won 5 of 8 faceoffs and totaled 13:49 of ice time, including 3:37 of power play time. (box score)

Dinamo Minsk would fall to Salavat Yulaev, 4-3. The Bison are now 2-1 on the season.

The Capitals announced on August 7 that Protas has been loaned to Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The loan is until the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL begin the 2020-21 season, which is currently set for December 4.

Protas had a goal and an assist in three preseason games for Dinamo.

Capitals defensive prospect Alex Alexeyev, who was loaned to Salavat Yulaev Ufa last week, did not play in today’s game against Dinamo Minsk.
