Capitals’ Nicklas Backstrom Will Not Return for Game 1 Vs. Islanders After Hit From Anders Lee

Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom will not return for the remainder of Game 1 of the Capitals’ first-round series against the New York Islanders at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Backstrom took a hard hit from Islanders captain Anders Lee early in the first period.

He was not on the bench for the start of the second period. Backstrom took a hard hit from Lee early in the first period, which resulted in a scrum between Lee and Capitals defenseman John Carlson and later forward Tom Wilson.

The Capitals announced late in the second period that Backstrom would not return.

    How would Don Cherry say”don’t admire your pass ,someone’s going to make you pay!”,rookie move from veteran player!Its playoff’s pay attenion!!! Most NHL’s would butt-end thier Grandma to win the Cup,Caps players should remember that!!
