The Great Eight has still got it 143 days later! Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored two goals during Wednesday’s exhibition game against the Carolina Hurricanes at Scotiabank Arena.

With only three seconds left on a power-play in, Ovechkin fired right from his office to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead 8:27 into the first period. Forward T.J. Oshie and defenseman Dmitry Orlov had the helpers.

Ovechkin would pick up another goal 12:24 into the second period. Forward Tom Wilson and defenseman Nick Jensen assisted.

He tied with Boston Bruins’ forward David Pastrnak at 48 goals in the regular season and won the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy.
