According to TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie, the NHL Draft Lottery will be held on June 26. No date has been set for the 2020 NHL Draft, which will be held online, yet.

With the 2019-20 season not resuming until July in a 24-team Stanley Cup Playoff format, the lottery could be between the seven teams (Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, New Jersey Devils, and Buffalo Sabres) that did not qualify.

The Red Wings already locked up the last place in the NHL before the season paused with 39 points in 71 games, trailing the 30th-place Senators by 23 points.

The Devils won the NHL Draft Lottery in two of the past three years (2017, 2019).

Forward Alexis Lafreniere, who recorded 35 goals and 112 points in 52 games with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Océanic, is the favorite to be picked first overall.
