“Just wanted to wish you well in this tough time right now,” Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson said to Capitals planholders in a video message. In a time of total uncertainty, Wilson shared his good wishes during the NHL’s pause due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
“I know you guys are the ones who show up every night, cheer us on, make us go,” he said. Wilson hopes the team is back at Capital One Arena “sooner rather than later”. The league is still trying to piece together the remainder of the 2019-20 season or go right into the playoffs in a fair format.
Wilson called this time “unprecedented”. “Right now, we’re just taking it day-by-day.” On Monday morning, general manager Brian MacLellan said in a teleconference that no players on the team have shown symptoms of the virus so far.
He closed by thanking “the best fans in the NHL”. Earlier this month, Wilson shared a video message to fans saying it’s important to stay healthy and stay safe.
