Last week, we shared the news of Washington Capitals’ team chef Robert Wood, partner and executive chef of SuperFd Catering, and Eco Caters D.C. doing their part in the community through SuperFd Market. This new delivery service will donate a meal to a family or someone in need for every meal ordered. This week, SuperFd is teaming up with forward Garnet Hathway’s program, “Hath’s Heroes” to provide prepared meals for first responders.

“During this unprecedented time, while many of us are able to stay safe at home, first responders are continuing to protect and serve us in our communities,” Hathaway said in a video tweeted by the Capitals.

Hathway will match the first $5,000 in donations and SuperFd will provide a free meal to high-risk individuals with every first responder meal purchased. To make a donation, please click here.

He concluded by saying, “Together, we can help those who have always helped us.”

Earlier this month, trail mix packets by Power Up Snacks were supplied to local first responders through Hath’s Heroes.

Inspired by his great-grandfather, a Winnipeg firefighter, the 28-year old started the program in December to show his support and appreciation for first responders. In mid-December, Hathaway donated four tickets to Station 1B firefighters and visited first responders of Station 1 of the Arlington County Fire Department. He also spent time with personnel from Station 3 of ACFD in February.

Captain, the team dog through America’s VetDogs, and Scout, Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Corporate Puppy with a Purpose also through AVD, accompanied Hathaway on the visit, which helped in each of the pups’ training to become service dogs.
