While the NHL regular season is on pause due to COVID-19, the Washington Capitals are well on their way to have another playoff-caliber year.  When the NHL regular season resumes, the Capitals will have 13 regular season games remaining before they hit the postseason.

To date, what are some of the best highlights of the Capitals season so far?  Let’s dive in to some highlight videos to see some of the biggest highlights:

ALEX OVECHKIN HAS 48 GOALS

Ovechkin is showing no signs of slowing down, even at age 34.  Ovechkin is shooting for his ninth 50+ goal season when NHL play resumes.  Here are some highlights of his goals this season:

OVECHKIN HITS 700

Ovechkin is making history this season as he is shooting up the goal scoring ladder.  The future Hockey Hall of Famer made history this season as he hit goal #700 against the New Jersey Devils.

COMEBACK CAPITALS VERSUS THE SHARKS

In early January, the Capitals faced the San Jose Sharks on home ice.  Down by 2 goals and with just under a minute to go in regulation, the Capitals tallied 2 goals in 34 seconds to tie the game.  The Capitals would later win the game in overtime thanks to a goal by Lars Eller.

ANAHEIM BRAWL

There was some nastiness between the Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks in early November.  The Capitals and Ducks, who only see each other twice a season, got into a melee back at Capital One Arena in November.

COMEBACK CAPITALS IN BC

The Capitals have had plenty of comebacks in 2019-20.  The Capitals rallied from a 5-1 deficit in late October against the Canucks.  The Capitals scored late in the second period to cut the score to 5-2, and then scored 3 straight goals in the third period to tie the game by the end of regulation.  The Capitals would later seal the 6-5 victory in the shootout.
