Russian Power: Ilya Kovalchuk Records First Point as a Capital; Assists with Kuznetsov on Ovechkin’s Goal

Forward Ilya Kovalchuk recorded his first point as a Washington Capital on Sunday night as the team clashed with the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.

Kovalchuk had the secondary assist on captain Alex Ovechkin’s goal at the 10:59 mark of the opening frame. Center Evgeny Kuznetsov also assisted in the Russian trio.

It was his 14th point of the season but the first point as a Capital.

The Capitals lead 3-2 at the end of the first period.
