Washington Capitals forward Jakub Vrana ended a 12-game scoring drought on Sunday as the Capitals clashed with the rival Pittsburgh Penguins at Capital One Arena. He scored his 24th goal of the season and tied his career-high from last season in 20 fewer games.
Vrana opened the scoring and gave the Capitals a 1-0 lead 6:12 into the first period. His breakaway goal was initially reviewed, but the call confirmed it was good.

The goal marked his 24th of the season since January 27, ending a 12-game scoring drought. In 20 fewer games, Vrana also tied his career-high from last season.

On even-strength goals, Vrana has been at the top of the league. Out of his 24 goals this season, 23 have come at even strength, which ties Vrana with Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon and Chicago Blackhawks’ forward Dominik Kubalik for the ninth most in the NHL.
