After Wednesday’s practice, Washington Capitals forward Garnet Hathaway visited the Arlington County Fire Department as a part of his “Hath’s Heroes” program. Inspired by his great-grandfather, a Winnipeg firefighter, the 28-year old started the new program in December to show his support and appreciation for first responders. In this visit, Hathaway was accompanied by Captain and Scout, which helped in each of the pups’ training to become service dogs.
Hathaway and the pups spent time with personnel from Station 3. He had a chance to sit in the driver’s seat of the truck and learn more about the equipment firefighters use.

Training to become future service dogs through America’s VetDogs, the visit was a perfect opportunity for Captain and Scout to work on socialization skills with the first responders.

In mid-December, Hathaway donated four tickets to Station 1B firefighters and visited first responders of Station 1 of the ACFD.
