Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov Leaves Game Against Islanders With Upper-Body Injury; Questionable To Return For The Third Period

Washington Capitals’ center Evgeny Kuznetsov left Monday’s game during the second period against the New York Islanders after a collision with Islanders’ center Leo Komarov. He was questionable to return but ultimately did not for the third period. The Capitals were down 5-3 after two periods.

After taking a hit at center ice from Komarov at the boards, Kuznetsov headed down the tunnel in pain.

Per the team, he was questionable to return for the final frame.

At the beginning of the third period, Kuznetsov did not return.

    If we hear news tomorrow that a forward from Hershey is recalled, then the news is very bad indeed. Question: do the Caps have any room to recall a forward? I presume Travis Boyd is in the lineup on Thursday. (At the rate team is going, maybe I should just refrain from watching Thursday’s game.)
