The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins rivalry is one of, if not, the best rivalry in the NHL. The teams’ respective captains, who were both drafted first overall in 2004, are meeting for the 75th time in their careers.

Prior to Sunday’s Super Bowl matinee clash, Crosby told media, “We’re not best buddies, but at the same time, I think I respect the way he plays and what he’s doing.”
Crosby on relationship w/ Ovechkin: “It’s cordial and respectful. We’re not best buddies, but at the same time, I think I respect the way he plays and what he’s doing. Can relate to the pressure and expectations that come with the position that he was in coming into the League.”

“What he’s [Ovechkin’s] been able to do and what he continues to do is incredible,” Crosby said in a feature that aired during the first intermission. “There’s a lot of respect for what he’s done. He’s still doing it.”
