The Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins rivalry is one of, if not, the best rivalry in the NHL. The teams’ respective captains, who were both drafted first overall in 2004, are meeting for the 75th time in their careers.

Prior to Sunday’s Super Bowl matinee clash, Crosby told media, “We’re not best buddies, but at the same time, I think I respect the way he plays and what he’s doing.”

Although the Stanley Cup Champions have played against each other 75 times, only 50 of those are regular-season games.

“What he’s [Ovechkin’s] been able to do and what he continues to do is incredible,” Crosby said in a feature that aired during the first intermission. “There’s a lot of respect for what he’s done. He’s still doing it.”
