Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson picked up his 361st assist in tonight’s game against the Ottawa Senators. He now ties Capitals alum Calle Johansson for most assists by a defenseman in franchise history.
His helper came minutes into the opening period from a goal by forward T.J. Oshie. It marked his 48th assist on the season for a total of 61 points thus far.

T.J. Oshie has been credited with the Capitals first goal, his 19th of the season, with John Carlson recording the assist. That marks Carlson’s 361st career assist, tying him with Calle Johansson for the most assists by a Capitals defenseman in franchise history.
