While many people were gearing up for a celebratory drink as the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve, Nic Dowd and wife Paige were enjoying the newest addition to their family, as the couple welcomed their first child on New Year’s Eve.
The couple welcomed son Louie just a few hours before the clock struck midnight on December 31, and in a post to her Instagram page on the afternoon of January 1, Paige welcomed the couple’s first-born in a post, saying:
“Louie Dowd – 5 lbs 6 oz – 8:18 PM – Best New Year’s Eve I’ve ever had. Welcome to the world little Lou. Thanks for surprising us a month early because we are so lucky we get an extra month with you”
The Capitals also took to Twitter to welcome the newest Capitals family member and congratulate Nic and Paige and confirm that all is well with both Louie and his mom:
Join us in welcoming to the world Louie Henry Alan Dowd!
Mom and everyone doing fine.
Born last night. A New Years Eve baby. 👶
Congrats, @JimmyDowder26!!

Nic did not play in the Capitals’ 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon due to pending arrival of the family’s newest addition.
Congratulations to the Dowd Family on their newest addition!
