Already part of the most victorious team of the decade, and having reached a number of personal milestones to his name, Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom made more history in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders by assisting on a Tom Wilson, first period goal.

By assisting on Tom Wilson’s 13th goal of the 2019-20 season in the first period of the Tuesday’s game, Backstrom recorded his 513th assist and 700th point of the last decade.

His 700th point makes him one of just seven players to reach the mark, and his 513 assists are tops among all players.

Additionally, Backstrom has recorded 12 points in 10 games since returning from injury on December 9. He finishes the 2019 portion of the season with eight goals and 22 assists for 30 points in 33 games played.
