Nicklas Backstrom Will Miss 8th Straight Game, Capitals Look To Sweep The Left Coast: News From Morning Skate In Anaheim

The Capitals will be shooting for their first west coast sweep in franchise history tonight when they face the Ducks in Anaheim. The Capitals are 18-18-1-1 all-time against the Ducks. Puck drop is set for just after 10 PM. Here is the latest Capitals news from California.

Should the Capitals win against the Ducks, it will mark the first time in franchise history the Capitals went 3-0-0 on the road against all three California teams. It will mark the first occurrence by any team in 2019-20 and just the fifth such occurrence by any NHL team since 2016-17.

Since the Ducks’ first season in 1993-94, NHL teams have swept the California teams just 21 times in NHL history. Additionally, Washington would sweep a road trip of four games for the second time in franchise history (Feb. 9-16, 1993: wins against Minnesota North Stars, St. Louis, Los Angeles and San Jose).
