In the Washington Capitals 4-3 Overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning Friday night, Alex Ovechkin reached a milestone for career shots. He is now in sole possesion of third place for career shots on goal.
With seven shots against Tampa Bay, Ovechkin passed Marcel Dionne (5,363) for third on the NHL all time list for shots on goal. Ovechkin now 5,365 career shots, surpassing Dionne in 237 fewer games played.
