Panthers at Capitals Pregame Notebook: Nicklas Backstrom Skates In No-Contact Jersey

Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom, who was ruled out for their game against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night, skated in a no-contact jersey with his teammates in the team’s morning skate prior to the game. The 32-year old will miss his third straight game with a lower-body injury.

Head coach Todd Reirden told the media earlier this week that the goal for Backstrom was to return later in the week.

Braden Holtby will get the start in goal against the Panthers.

Center Nic Dowd will return after missing the last five games with a hand injury.

Carl Hagelin is on track to return as expected after his LTIR stint. He will be eligible to be back for the team’s game on Dec. 3 at San Jose.

The Capitals’ annual canine calendar is now on sale and you can get yours at the gift shop tonight, or order online here.
