Monday was filled with news out of the seven cities within the NHL’s Metropolitan Division, as injuries begin to pile up, and one of the biggest stars in the division could be facing legal troubles. If you missed what happened, NoVa Caps has you covered with an around the division Monday news roundup.
Columbus Blue Jackets
- Forward Alexandre Texier (knee), who is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, and defenseman Ryan Murray (broken hand), who is expected to miss 3-4 weeks, were both placed on injured reserve.
New Jersey Devils
- Defenseman Connor Carrick (broken pinky) will miss 4-6 weeks.
New York Islanders
- Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg announced his retirement after a 15-season NHL career.
- The New York Islanders have won seven in a row and are the hottest team in the NHL.
New York Rangers
- Filip Chytil and Ryan Lindgren have been recalled from Hartford Wolf Pack.
Pittsburgh Penguins
- The Penguins have sent forwards Adam Johnson and Joseph Blandisi back to WBS. Alex Galchenyuk is on track to play tomorrow and Evgeni Malkin said he is targeting a return to the lineup Saturday.
- Center Evgeni Malkin, who has missed the past 10 games (lower-body injury), is hoping to return on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers. However, Malkin may be in some trouble off the ice as well, as it was revealed on Monday he was involved in a cryptocurrency investment scheme that backfired; he’s lost $4 million.
Apparently Malkin has been involved in some crpyo money scheme stuff thing and there are some serious legal issues. In documents that have been leaked he’s shown as “American investor” which has now fueled loads of speculation. https://t.co/XARZoyJWqh

Malkin has not been involved in day-to-day activites of the company. HOWEVER: His signatures are on some pretty significant documents and technically would face jail time if found guilty.
It’s believed that Malkin wasn’t informed or knew about the scam.— Aivis Kalniņš (@A_Kalnins) October 28, 2019

And also the news from the Central Division of Tarasenko out for 5 months.
Huge loss for the defending champs.
