While the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs are a long way off, Major League Baseball’s postseason is nearing the start of the World Series. While the American League team had yet to be determined heading into Friday night, the National League championship belongs to the Washington Nationals, whose success has been strongly supported by the Capitals. Prior to tonight’s game against the New York Rangers, Nats starting pitcher Max Scherzer and outfielder Adam Eaton took part in pregame festivities at Capital One Arena.
Scherzer, wearing a customized No. 31 Caps jersey with his name on the nameplate, took part in a ceremonial puck drop, but instead of the traditional puck, substituted something more familiar to him (a baseball). Following the drop, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin presented Scherzer with a puck of his own.
