On the eve of the 2019-20 NHL season, the NoVa Caps staff unveils their annual predictions for the Metropolitan Division. With teams like the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers making some big roster upgrades over the offseason, the Metropolitan Division should be the NHL’s best and most entertaining to watch this season. (Drum roll …)
All but one of us picked the Washington Capitals to grab the Metropolitan Division crown for the fifth consecutive season while most have the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders in the top-three. We all have the Pittsburgh Penguins in the middle of the pack and the Columbus Blue Jackets at the bottom but disagree with the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers’ place in the standings for the most part.
We will score the picks at the end of the season in order to determine who is THE Prominent Prognosticator for the 2019-20 season. Good luck to all of the NoVa Caps contributors (except for George).

…except George 😂
This is fun! Everybody is correct on the eve of the NHL season. Day One has two predictions:
1) Columbus will finish far higher in standings than prognosticated
2) So will NJD
Agree. And Pens will do better than most are figuring.
